Our team loves a project however small or large! We have worked with lots of clients who have acquired properties that need either full renovation or refurbishment in order to get them to a condition of the best quality.
What sort of projects have we been involved with?
We have been involved with so many different projects over the years, each one bringing their own joys and challenges.
Sometimes a property may have been inherited and therefore in need of updating both in terms of decor as well as compliance. These projects are usually fairly straight forward, simple and relatively quick.
Other times the property may have been acquired for its potential but is currently in a dilapidated state. This is where we manage more complex projects that may involve the need for planning applications or the use of several trades. We’ll manage all of this from start to finish.
What if your property is listed as an historic building?
There are three major types of listed buildings - Grade I, Grade II* and Grade II. The former is regarded as the most important of the listings and has national and possibly international significance. The latter of the listings is still important but perhaps more on a local and regional basis. You may never have even heard of some of these buildings.
Regardless of what grade listing the property is there will be a need to consult the Conservation Officer at the local planning authority before any significant changes are made i.e. internal layout, changes of doors or windows.
The common misconception is that because a building is listed you can’t do anything to it, this is simply not true. However in order to protect the historical integrity of the building it is important that specialists consider the impact of your changes and ensure that any plans are sympathetic and well executed.
What if you want to manage the project yourself?
